New Staff Member!

We would like to welcome our newest staff member Dr Stephanie Davidson CGeog(Geomorph), FRGS

Stephanie is now our Principal Fluvial Geomorphologist.

Stephanie has 25 years’ combined experience of consultancy and university research and teaching (Aberdeen and Norwich). Stephanie’s research interests focus on fluvial geomorphology and sedimentology, particularly natural channel design approaches to river restoration and engineering, erosion mitigation, flood management and reconstructing palaeogeography from preserved river deposits in the rock record.

Stephanie has accrued considerable experience in environmental and geological consultancy where her role is key in implementing sustainable, low impact and cost-effective design options for a range of engineering and river restoration schemes. Stephanie provides specialist knowledge of producing environmentally sensitive engineering designs to comply with the legislative and planning framework for managing the water environment. She has worked on projects commissioned by a variety of government and statutory organisations, local authorities and private sector industries.

Stephanie has published and reviewed numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and in 2009 convened the first cross-disciplinary conference dedicated to modern and ancient river systems – “From River to Rock Record”. In 2019, as a recognised leader in her field, the Royal Geographical Society invited Stephanie to become an Initial Assessor for new applications for Chartered Geographer status.
